How do I suppress a bib record in Alma?

Bib records can be suppressed from discovery on a:

To suppress a single bib record from discovery in Alma:

  1. Open the bib record in the MD Editor
  2. Go to Record Actions
  3. Check the box next to Suppress from Discovery
  4. Click Save>Save and Release Record (Ctrl+Alt+R)

 

Suppressing a set of bib records:

  1. Create a set of bib records to be suppressed from Discovery
  2. Go to Admin>Manage Jobs and Sets>Run a Job
  3. Search for the "Suppress Records from Discovery" job
  4. Click the radio button next to "Suppress Records from Discovery" job
  5. Click Next
  6. Click the radio button next to the set 
  7. Click Next
  8. Click the "Yes" radio button for "Suppress from Discovery?"
  9. Click Next
  10. Click Submit
  11. Click Confirm


Additional ways to suppress bib records from discovery:

  1. Normalization Rule that suppresses records may be included in an Import Profile:
    1. Select Resource Management > Configuration Menu
    2. elect Metadata Configuration
    3. Select MARC21 Bibliographic
    4. Click the "Normalization" tab
    5. Select one of the rules, e.g. "Marc21 Bib normalize on save" > Actions: Edit 
    6. Check the Task List to see if it contains an active Process that "Sets the Suppressed flag of MMS" 
    7. Verify that the Flag is set to TRUE (the default is FALSE, no suppression)
  2. When the record is added via the menu Create inventory > Add physical item” > Holding type is “new” -- the record will be suppressed
  3. Bib records that have no holdings or they are all suppressed, and suppressBibWithSuppressedHol is set to "true" if the HOL was suppressed as a result of an item deletion. The configuration is found by going to Configuration>Resources>General>Other Settings
