Can you change the display order for databases or links in Primo VE? And can you control which databases display in that list, for example, can you hide extra EBSCOhost databases?

Answer

Table of Contents:

Change Display Order:

You can change the order in which databases display, both to push your most reliable ones to the top of the list and to put the worst ones at the bottom:

  • Go to Configuration>Fulfillment>Discovery Interface Display Logic>Online Services Order
  • Use the "Add to top" and "Add to last services" options to add services:
    online service order

Limitations:

  • You can't add content managed for you in the NZ to list to adjust its order. However, if you want an NZ-link to show lower in the list, it will fall below anything you add to the Top Services area.
  • There's no way to sort results by availability, such as resources with the most current coverage showing before those with old coverage dates.

Use Display Logic to Hide Links:

You can use Display Logic to control how your databases work in View Online by telling the system to hide a database based on the appearance of another.

Examples:

  • If you know links from one vendor always work better than those from another, you can set up a display logic rule to hide the poor links if the better links show up as a result
  • EBSCOhost: if you don't want 20 EBSCOhost links from different packages to show up in your results list, you can write a rule to hide extra EBSCOhost links after the first one. However, this impacts your Journal search results in that it won't show all the coverage options in all the EBSCOhost databases.

Steps:

  • Go to Config>Fulfillment>Discovery Interface Display Logic>Display Logic Rules
  • Click on Add Rule:
