Adding Local Notes using the Metadata Editor

All local notes specific to an institution must added in the Metadata editor using SUNY approved local fields.

How to Add a Local Note to the Bib Record in Alma

  1. Open the bib record in the MD Editor 
  2. Click Editing Actions>Add Local Extension (Ctrl+L)
  3. Type in the local MARC field and a house Icon will appear next to the local field
    • If a "house" icon does not appear after typing in the local MARC field:
      • Edit>Add field was chosen in error or
      • The MARC field is not a designated local field recognized by Alma
  4. Type in the local note
  5. Click the Save>Save and Release Record (Ctrl+Alt+R)
