How do I apply the Network Zone brief level rules to Institutional Zone bibliographic records?

Answer

  1. Duplicate the SUNY brief level rule in the metadata editor:
    1. Go to File>Options and make sure the "Placement of New Rules" is set to Local
    2. Go to Resources>Cataloging>Open Metadata Editor
    3. Click on Rules
    4. Expand the Brief Level Rules folder
    5. Expand the Shared folder
    6. Click on SUNY Brief Level Rules and select Duplicate
    7. Rename the rule beginning with the Campus 3 letter identifier
      • Example NEW - SUNY Brief Level Rules
    8. Make sure Shared and Enable are checked
    9. Click Save
    10. Click File>Exit
    11. Click Yes when asked "Do you want to save normalization rules before closing?"
  2. Go to Configuration>Resources>Cataloging>Metadata Configuration
  3. Click on the MARC21 Bibliographic profile link
  4. Click on the Other Settings tab
  5. Select the Brief Level Rule created in step 1 from the drop-down menu
  6. Click Save
  7. Click Confirm from the pop-up menu
  8. Perform an advanced repository search in the IZ to identify physical bib records that are not linked to the NZ (the new brief level rules will be applied to to this set)
  9. Go to Admin>Manage Jobs and Sets>Run a Job
  10. Select the job named: "Identifying brief level"
    1. Select the radio button next to the set to run the job against that was created in step 8
    2. Click Next
    3. Click Submit
    4. Click Confirm
