How can I add an ILLiad OpenURL link to my Alma request cancellation letter?

An alternative to using ILLiad's email import feature to transfer unfilled resource sharing requests from Alma to ILLiad is to add an ILLiad OpenURL link to the FulCancelRequestLetter letter, which is the letter Alma sends the requester when a request is cancelled. Clicking this link will take the requester to your ILLiad login page (if they haven't already authenticated) and then a prepopulated ILLiad request form.

If you have already made changes to the FulCancelRequestLetter that you would like to retain, you can add this code to your XSL template:

This URL will auto-populate the following information into the ILLiad request form:
- Material type
- Title
- Author
- Publication Date
- ISBN
- OCLC number
Please note that you may need to edit the OpenURL mapping table in your ILLiad Customization Manager to get all of this information to populate correctly. To edit the FulCancelRequestLetter:
1. Go to Configuration | General | General Configuration | Customize Letters
2. Scroll down to Ful Cancel Request Letter (letter #103), click the ellipsis, and then click Edit
3. Insert the code provided above into the Content field (you may nee to click and drag the lower right corner of the field to expand it), change the "YOURILLIADOPENURLLINK" part of the link to your library's ILLiad OpenURL link, and then and then click Save.
To test the OpenURL link you added to the FulCancelRequestLetter:
1. Save the XML file below to your PC
2. Go to Configuration | General | General Configuration | Notification Template
3. Click the file folder button next to the XML to upload field, upload the FulCancelRequestLetter.xml file, and then click the Save button.
4. Click the Run XSL button. This will generate two pop-up windows (one with the letter xml and the other with the letter itself). You may need to allow pop-ups to see the letter. If you are having problems with pop-up blockers, you can also check the Send by email box and enter your email address in the Email field before clicking the Run XSL button. Doing that will generate an email to you instead of the two pop-ups.
5. Click the ILLiad OpenURL link in the email and then log in to ILLiad to make sure the request form is filled out properly.
