How can I set up direct linking for online availability and can I set a priority order for links?
Answer
Configure Direct Linking:
- Go to the Direct Linking Configuration page (Configuration Menu>Fulfillment>Discovery Interface Display Logic>Direct Linking)
- You may enable direct linking and specify situations in which direct linking is overridden:
- There are pros and cons to setting up direct linking. While it's more efficient for users to bypass the full record and go directly to the top Get It link, it can create confusion for the user if that link does not link. They might not be aware that there are other link options for access.
Set Link Order:
To configure the priority order of links from services like Jstor, EBSCO, etc.:
- Go to Configuration Menu>Fulfillment>Discovery Interface Display Logic>Online Services Order
- The first service in the list is the one that will be used for direct linking when it appears in a list of results
- If a service is added to the top or bottom group on this page, that group is displayed on the services results list in the order that you specify, with the remainder of entries retaining their default sort order.
- Unfortunately, you can't add NZ-managed content to this list, though any services or collections added to the Top display area will show above NZ-managed links in your results list.
