Templates can only be duplicated if the existing template is in the same zone in which the user wants to create the template. Therefor, it is recommended to create a template from the New menu.

To create an IZ only brief bib record template:

1. Open the MD Editor
2. Click on the Templates Tab
3. Click New>Placement Options
   1. Click on the radio button next to Local under "Placement of new records and templates"
4. Click New>Books (Default)
5. Delete all fields except local mandatory fields. If you want to adhere to the NZ brief record minimum standards make sure the record contains the following MARC fields:
   1. 020/022: ISBN/ISSN
   2. 100: Author (if applicable)
   3. 245: Title
   4. 250: Edition statement (If applicable)
   5. 260/264: Publishing information
6. Edit the LDR, 008, etc if applicable
7. Click Save>Save as template
   1. Name the Template starting with your three letter Symbol, ex. ONE Brief Bib
   2. Add a description
   3. Click on Shared
   4. Mark default if you want this to be the default template
   5. Click Save                               

New IZ only brief bib records can be created from:

1. New Menu
2. Templates Records List

To use a template to create an IZ only brief bib record from the New menu:

1. Open the MD Editor
2. Check the "Placement of new records and templates" is set to Local
   • New>Placement Options
   • It will create the new bib in the zone the placement options is configure to regardless of where teh IZ  only brief bib record is created
3. Click on the New menu
4. Select the IZ only MARC21 brief bib record template
   • If the template does not display:
     1. Click New>Template Display Configuration
     2. Toggle on the "Display in Configuration" tab for the IZ only brief bib template
     3. Click Save
5. Catalog the record
   1. Make sure you change the date in MARC 008 from the default 2013 (impacts discovery if you do not)
      1. Click in MARC 008
      2. Ctrl+f to open the form editor
      3. Edit the Date field (positions 7-10)
6. Click Save>Save and Release Record

To use a template to create an IZ only brief bib record from the records list:

1. Go to the MD Editor
2. Check the "Placement of new records and templates" is set to Local
   • New>Placement Options
   • It will create the new bib in the zone the placement options is configure to regardless of where teh IZ  only brief bib record is created
3. Click on the Templates tab 
4. Expand the Shared folder
5. Right-click on the IZ brief bib template 
6. Select New Record from Template
7. Catalog the record
   1. Make sure you change the date in MARC 008 from the default 2013 (impacts discovery if you do not)
      1. Click in MARC 008
      2. Ctrl+f to open the form editor
      3. Edit the Date field (positions 7-10)
8. Click Save>Save and Release Record
