How to Apply a Network Zone (NZ) Normalization Rule and Process to the Institution Zone
- Duplicate the Network Zone (NZ) Normalization Rule to the Institution Zone (IZ)
- Create a Normalization Process for the IZ Normalization Rule
- Run a job using the IZ Normalization Rule

Duplicate an NZ Normalization Rule to the IZ:
- Open the MD Editor
- Click New>Placement Options
- Change “Placement of new rules and templates” to Local
- Click Save
- Click on the Rules tab
- Search for the norm rule
- Expand the Shared folder
- Click Duplicate from the desired SUNY Normalization Rule
- Normalization rule properties screen opens
- Name: Add the campus three letter identifier as a prefix
- Make sure Share and Enabled are selected
- Click Save
- The rule opens in the MD Editor
- Click Save
Create a Normalization Process:
- Go to Configuration>Resources>Cataloging>Metadata Configuration
- Click MARC21 Holdings
- Click on the Normalization Processes tab
- Click Add Process
- Process Details – General Information screen opens
- Name: [name the process]
- Description: [add description]
- Status: [make sure it is Active]
- Click Next
- Process Details – Add Task screen opens
- Click Add Tasks
- Click the MARCDroolsNormalization check box
- Click Add and Close
- Click Next
- Process Details – Task Parameters screen opens
- Drool File Key: [select the copy of the SUNY LHR Remove 0044 normalization rule
- Click Save
Run a job using the IZ Normalization Rule:
The IZ normalization rule can be applied to the Institution when running a job once the normalization rule and process have been created.
- Go to Admin>Manage Jobs and Sets>Run a Job
- Search for the job using the Normalization Process's name
- Click the radio button for the job
- Click Next
- Click the radio button for the set of records the norm process is being applied to
- Click Next
- Click Next
- Click Submit
- Click Confirm
