How do I turn on automatic renewals?

To turn on automatic renewals, you will need to create Automatic Loan Renewal Rules and turn on the Notifications - Send Courtesy Notices and Handle Loan Renewals job. To do that, you will need the Fulfillment Administrator role. Please note that Automatic Loan Renewal Rules adhere to the renewal policies defined in your Loan TOUs. A renewals will not be automatically granted if it is not allowed by those policies. Also, items with requests for other users will not be automatically renewed until that request is canceled or fulfilled by another item.
Creating Automatic Loan Renewal Rules
1. Go to Configuration | Fulfillment | Physical Fulfillment | Auto Loan Renewal Rules
2. Click the Add Rule button.
3. Enter a rule name and description into the Name and Description fields and then click the Add Parameter button. If you wish this automatic loan renewal rule to apply to all loans, skip ahead to step 5 after entering a name and description.
4. Select how you would like to limit the rule (you can limit by owning library or user group) from the Name field, select an operator (equals, contains, in list, etc.), select the desired values from the Values dropdown, and then click the Add Parameter button.
5. Make sure the AutoRenewal setting under Output Parameters is set to True and then click the Save button.
Turning On the Notifications - Send Courtesy Notices and Handle Loan Renewals Job
Note: This job processes automatic renewals based on how you have your automatic loan renewal rules configured. The job sends the Courtesy Letter email, so be sure that letter is active before activating this job.
1. Go to Configuration | Fulfillment | General | Fulfillment Jobs Configuration
2. Under Send Courtesy Notices and Handle Loan Renewals Job, change the Status to Active and select either Every Day at 03:00 or Every Day at 23:00 from the Schedule dropdown.
3. Enter the number of days before the due date that an item should be auto-renewed in the Days Before Due Date field.
4. If you want the Courtesy Letter sent every day until the item is due, select "Daily when due date is in range" from the Handle Loans dropdown. If you want the Courtesy Letter sent only once, select either "When due date exactly matches defined day" or "Once when due date is within range" from the Handle Loans dropdown.
5. Click the Save button.
