How is SUNY managing Elsevier Sciencedirect Perpetual Access Titles and the Elsevier New Deal titles for campuses?

Answer

Perpetual Title Access:

Elsevier provided SUNY OLIS with list of each campus's Perpetual Title Access, and SLS set this up for you in your Alma in a local collection called Sciencedirect PTA (SLS).

Note that the version of the Lancet that was included in both the core titles list and the campus PTA lists is the print version (ISSN 0099-5355) and the title that we have access to electronically in Sciencedirect is ISSN 0140-6736. This has been updated in your PTA files and in the core titles collection in the Network Zone.

New Deal Titles:

The SLS manages the new titles in the Network Zone.

  • Collection Name: the collection name is Sciencedirect (NZ) to differentiate it from your local Sciencedirect content. This should help with troubleshooting any linking problems. Please report any problems with this collection to info@sunyolis.libanswers.com
  • Proxy: the collection is set up to use your default proxy. As long as you continue to maintain a stanza in your proxy for Sciencedirect, linking should work.
  • Display Logic and Link Order settings: content activated in the Network Zone cannot be used with your local display logic or link order settings. However, if you create display logic based on the Sciencedirect platform rather than the collection, it may work correctly for the NZ links.
  • Autoload: If you choose to manage your Sciencedirect access through the Alma autoload, let SLS know and we'll remove you from the NZ inventory group for the current titles so that you don't get duplicate link in Primo.
