How do I use the Remove and Recalculate Rota Assignment to reprocess a resource sharing borrowing request?

Answer

1. Use the View Network Resources Function to search for the requested item (you may need to click the ellipsis to see the View Network Resources function). Alma will automatically search the Network Zone for the requested item based on the request metadata, and results will be automatically displayed. You may need to click the query at the top of the screen and adjust the search to find a record for the requested item. If you have to do this, we recommend removing ISBN, LCCN, or System Number from the search parameters. You should also remove the author's middle name or middle initial if that is included in the initial search, and you may want to remove the item's subtitle if it has one.

2. If you do not find any records for the requested item, click the back button, click the ellipsis next to the request, and then click the Send link. This will export the request to ILLiad. If you do find a record for the requested item, skip ahead to step 3.

3. If you find a record for the requested item, first click the Held By link and then click one of the library listed. That will allow you to check the item's location and current availability at that library. You can check the item's location and current availability at the other holding libraries by clicking each link in the Held by Institutions on the left.

4. If the record you found has SUNY holdings in lendable (i.e. not reserves or special collections) locations with current availability, click the Back button, copy the ISBN from the record, click the Back button again, and then click the Edit button. Paste the ISBN into the request's ISBN field, delete the ISBN and System Control Number, remove any potentially problematic information from the author and title fields (author's middle name or initial, subtitle), and then click the Save button.

5. Click the ellipsis nest to the request and then click the Remove and Recalculate Rota Assignment link. The locate process will run on the new request metadata.
