How do I advocate to add or correct vendor content in Alma's Community Zone?
Answer
If you find that a single title is missing from a collection in the Community Zone, or is incorrectly listed, best practice is to submit a Salesforce ticket about that title. If, however, you find that you're missing a whole collection, or the content you need is only available as a database rather than an electronic collection with portfolios, your best bet is to work through the Content Forum in Ex Libris's Idea Exchange.
Search for Content:
- Go to the Content Forum
- Use the search box to see if your content has already been requested:
Existing Ideas:
- Vote for ideas by clicking on the vote button next to the Idea Exchange entry.
- You will need to use your institution email, not a personal email. Once you've entered an email, that will be your login email. You may create a password to go with your email, but it's not mandatory.
- You're allowed 25 total votes. If you decide to remove your votes from an entry, you will get them back to use somewhere else.
- Voting is open to anyone in SUNY, as opposed to ELUNA enhancements voting, which can only be done by ELUNA members.
- Product Management will review the requests and provide feedback when the request is Under Review, Planned, Completed, or Already Supported.
- When a status of a request is updated to Under Review, anyone who voted for it or is following it will get an update email.
- Once moved to any of the other statuses, another update email is sent, and the votes are released.
- You're free to comment on an idea without using a vote
New Ideas:
- You may submit the following types of ideas:
- New collections for Discovery (Search records for Primo Central)
- New collections for the KnowledgeBase (Alma CZ)
- New Authority files to be added to the Alma Community Zone
- Enrichment of Community Zone bibliographic records for specified collections
- The more information that you can give the Content Team, the better. Collection name, vendor's contact info, the reason why this content benefits the community, etc.
- If you want the content to be included in both the CZ and the Primo Central search records, you only need to submit it once, not separately in each category. Ex Libris will check with the vendor for both kinds of content.
- If you change your mind and want to delete an idea you can do that by clicking the delete link. However, if the idea already is in process, it can't be deleted.
- You may submit up to 25 ideas because you need to give each of your ideas at least one vote and you get 25 total votes.
- Not every idea will get a response from Ex Libris. They are currently focusing on the ideas with the most votes.
- Once you've submitted your idea, Ex Libris will take it from there. They prefer to work directly with the vendor rather than have the idea submitter provide title lists or other content.
