How does Alma's personal delivery feature work?
Answer
Alma's personal delivery functionality allows users to have requested items delivered to either a home or office delivery if the following conditions are met:
- the user has a home and/or work address listed in their Alma user record
- the pertinent Request or Borrowing Resource Sharing TOU allows for personal delivery
- the circulation desk where the item is being scanned in or received supports personal delivery
Users can select personal delivery as a pickup option when placing either hold or resource sharing requests. Staff can also select personal delivery when creating hold or resource sharing requests in Alma.
When an item requested for personal delivery is scanned in, it will be automatically checked out to the user. The user will receive the Ful Personal Delivery Letter, which states that the item they requested will be shipped to their home or work address, and the Ful Resource Request Slip letter will print. That letter can be edited to include a personal delivery shipping label.

Notes:
- A personal delivery hold request cannot be converted unto a resource sharing request (you will get an error message). To get around this, you can change the hold request's pickup location to a library, convert the hold request into a resource sharing request, and then change the resource sharing request's pickup location back to personal delivery.
- Personal delivery doesn't work for resource sharing requests exported to ILLiad.

Filling Personal Delivery Requests
Personal delivery requests behave the same as regular requests up to the point where the requested item is either scanned in (hold requests) or received from the lending library (resource sharing requests). Once an item requested for personal delivery is either scanned in or received at a circulation desk that supports personal delivery, it will be automatically checked out to the user. The user will receive the Ful Personal Delivery Letter, and they will also receive the Loan Receipt Letter if your circulation desk is configured to print loan receipts. The Ful Resource Request Slip will also print when an item requested for personal delivery is scanned in or received.
Note: If an item requested for personal delivery is scanned in or received at a circulation desk that doesn't support personal delivery, it will be put in transit to a circulation desk that does support personal delivery.
