How does embargoed content work in Primo VE?
Answer
Embargoed content should work as expected in Primo VE, with the unavailable articles not showing as available in your filter by availability searches. However, because of poor metadata in the CDI, the match between the availability publishing from Alma and the match with the articles in the CDI may not always work correctly. If you find content showing as available when it should not be, or vice versa, submit a ticket to Ex Libris.
More information about expected behavior for embargoed content:
CDI supports the following types of embargos:
- Start date + last month(s)/year(s) not available. For example: Available from 07/01/1990. - Most recent 1 year(s) not available.
- Record has only embargo days: Last month(s)/year(s) available. For example: Most recent 1 year(s) available.
Not supported: Last month(s)/year(s) not available - without a start date [would be unusual to see this kind of coverage, with no start date]
To calculate coverage, Alma needs, for a specific CDI record:
- Year, month and day info from CDI record (if month and day info are not available in the CDI record, it will use ’01’ and ’01’ for month and day)
- The current day, month and day
- The embargo or rolling year coverage statement for the active portfolio in Alma
