How do I add a custom label to a resource sharing request?

Answer

The new resource sharing request list interface that was included in the August 2022 Alma update contains a custom request labeling feature.  In order to use this new feature, you must enable the new resource sharing request list interface.  Once you add a label to a request, that label will be added to the facet list on the left side of the resource sharing request list.

Instructions for adding and removing custom labels are below.  SLS does not have any specific recommendations on how to use these new custom labels at this time, so please share how you are using these labels by submitting a ticket to info@sunyolis.libanswers.com.

Adding a Custom Label to a Resource Sharing Request

1. Click on the request you wish to add a custom label to.  The request will open in a window on the right side of your screen.  Click the Add Label link.

2. When you click the Add Label link, the add label box will appear.  If you would like to use a label that you're already using for another request, click inside the label box. A dropdown of labels that are currently in use will appear.  Check the box next to the label you wish to use, and then click the green check mark beneath the add label box.  The label will be added to the request.  If you wish to add a label that isn't currently being used, skip ahead to step 3.

3. To add a label that isn't currently being used, type the text for that label into the add label box.  The new label will appear in the dropdown below the add label box.  Once you're finished entering the new label into the add label box, either hit enter or click on the label in the dropdown and then click the green check mark beneath the add label box.  The label will be added to the request, but the label won't appear in the labels filter until you refresh the request list.

Removing Custom Labels from a Resource Sharing Request

1. Click on the request you wish to remove a custom label from.  The request will open in a window on the right side of your screen.  Click on the label you wish to remove.

2. Once you click on the label you wish to remove, the label box will appear.  Click the X next to the label you wish to remove, and then click the green check mark beneath the box to remove the label.  The label will be removed from the request.

Note: The list of previously used custom labels will appear after you remove the label, and this list may hide the green check and blue X beneath the label box.  If this happens, click anywhere outside the label box to make the list disappear.
