How can I use the AI Metadata Assistant?

The AI Metadata Assistant can be used for IZ-only records, such as personal copy course reserves. It cannot be used for NZ-based bib records as NZ records should be cataloged in OCLC and have OCLC numbers.

This tool can only be used in the Metadata Editor, and requires the roles of Cataloger and AI Assisted Cataloging. Your campus administrator will have to activate use by going to the Configuration menu > Resources > Cataloging > AI Usage Profile and setting it to Yes and saving.

Since this tool should only be used for IZ-level bib records, please check your template placement options and make sure to use Local.

Once your environment has activated the configuration change and the correct roles have been applied, you should be able to access the AI Metadata Assistant by opening up the Metadata Editor, selecting the New drop-down from the menu, and choosing Create with AI Assistant.

A menu will open, allowing for either metadata entry or file upload. Once you have finished, save your bibliographic record.
